BOOK ONE
A LAND I WILL SHOW YOU
“Go from your land… to the land I will show you.” GENESIS 12:1 · LECH LECHA
America is losing its grip on truth itself. The feeds have drowned the facts, nothing can be agreed on anymore, and the old scapegoats are walking again. A systems engineer — a man whose job is making ten thousand parts built by strangers behave as one machine — watches his country come apart at the interfaces. He carries his family’s oldest lesson in his bones: the ones who left survived; the ones who stayed did not. This time, there is nowhere on Earth left to leave for.
So they look up. A sanctuary is rising overhead every ninety-two minutes — a habitat where a generation of children will be raised without nation, history, or faith, and one day come home to heal a world that could not heal itself. Their infant son has a seat. The price of his survival is the erasure of everything his parents are.
They name him Zachary.
It means remember.
He won’t.
